Saira C. Narajos, an Industrial Design Student at De La Salle University, College of Saint Benilde in the Philippines built and set up the "Waverider" system in the Tropical Hut grocery store,Dona Soledad Betterliving, in the Philippines during March 2004.

Based around the Trolleyponder RFID system from Trolley Scan (Pty) Ltd, Saira developed the concept and the hardware to allow baskets to be scanned in a self service manner, similar to that done for supermarket trolleys in the original demonstration in Pretoria in 1994 by a team led by Mike Marsh, and to the model developed by Ms Le Tong in her Branders (Waves) concept from the University of New South Wales in Australia (1998).
